Want to help grow the future farmers of tomorrow? AgFutures is recruiting young people aged 17 to 25 now.

AgFutures is a new training initiative being rolled out in the Barwon South West region that teaches young people aged 17 to 25 key essential technical and farm safety skills to enter entry-level farm roles.

As a future farmer, you will undertake training on:

  • First-aid
  • Work health and safety
  • Tractors, front-end loaders, quad bikes, and side-by-sides
  • The life skills needed to thrive and grow in their future careers
  • Other farm specific training

How does it work?

The AgFutures team are looking for young people interested in joining the program.

Once recruited, young people will participate in pre-employment farm focused activities and get to experience what employment on a farm is like.

From July 2023, a paid six-month mentoring program commences where participants will undertake accredited training that teaches them key technical and farm safety skills and access support services through the AgFutures team.

Why consider a career in agriculture?

  • The agriculture industry is growing and young farmers are in high demand!
  • A huge range of career choices and pathways – it’s not just milking.
  • Work with animals – help nurture and care for them, and watch them thrive.
  • Your office is the great outdoors – don’t be chained to a desk!
  • Agriculture is high tech – if you’re a fan of drones, robots, cutting-edge AI and GPS systems, then welcome to the new world of farming.

And with AgFutures, young people can get paid while they learn! Contact our team today, as places are limited.
