Want to help grow the future farmers of tomorrow? AgFutures is recruiting young people aged 17 to 25 now.
AgFutures is a new training initiative being rolled out in the Barwon South West region that teaches young people aged 17 to 25 key essential technical and farm safety skills to enter entry-level farm roles.
As a future farmer, you will undertake training on:
- First-aid
- Work health and safety
- Tractors, front-end loaders, quad bikes, and side-by-sides
- The life skills needed to thrive and grow in their future careers
- Other farm specific training
How does it work?
The AgFutures team are looking for young people interested in joining the program.
Once recruited, young people will participate in pre-employment farm focused activities and get to experience what employment on a farm is like.
From July 2023, a paid six-month mentoring program commences where participants will undertake accredited training that teaches them key technical and farm safety skills and access support services through the AgFutures team.
